Black Grouper

Monster Black on the Jig!

JP put in the work and was rewarded big-time with a solid black grouper caught on the jig this week! The bite was steady out deep, and the jigging setup proved deadly for pulling fish off structure. Conditions were calm with just enough current to keep things moving, and the fish were fired up. This black was the standout of the day—an absolute unit that put up a serious fight before hitting the deck.

We’re seeing good grouper activity right now, especially for those willing to drop jigs or fish live baits along the ledges. Other notables this trip included a handful of mutton snapper and some bonus action from amberjack cruising the deeper spots. If you’re targeting big structure fish in Fort Lauderdale, now’s a great time to gear up and get after it!
